INLETCVI-AIR

The counterflow virtual impactor (CVI) inlet separates out and samples particle residuals inside cloud and fog droplets via inertial impaction for in-cabin aerosol instrumentation to measure. The cut size for the Gulfstream-159 CVI inlet is 13 microns. During flight, the AAF on-board scientist determines when to switch between the isokinetic inlet (designed for clear air sampling) and the CVI inlet based on real time cloud sampling information. This dataset contains house keeping data relating to the performance of the inlet as well as a sampling flag for the user to determine what inlet cabin instrumentation were sampling from during the flight. CVI inlet data from campaigns prior to 2016 can be found as ARM data-sources with the name CVI-AIR or CVI.
